There is no connection with ISLAM and SCIENCE; according to Websters
Dictionary 1) Islam is: The whole body of Muslim believers, their
civilization, and the countries in which 'theirs' is the dominant
religion 2) Science: is Systematic knowledge or material world of facts
or truths gained through observation and experimentation.
To me islam pertains to dark age and christianity to modern
science.

Well, I'm not eager to hurt someone's feelings, but christianity isn't very
different from the islamic religion with respect to science. At this
moment, christianity indeed isn't much of an adversary to science - but
then again, the same goes for the islamic religion in the early Middle Ages
(while Europe went through its Dark Ages, the Arabs were studying the Greek
philosophers; 'algebra', 'chemistry', 'algorithm' have Arabic roots).
Christianity in the past has caused Giordano Bruno (an Italian monk from
Renaissance times who claimed the stars were distant suns, probably with
other planets rotating around them) to burn at the stake. Christianity in
the past (?) has caused early propagators of the evolution theory to be
ridiculed. Christian leaders refused even to *look* through Galileo's
telescope (as a matter of fact, the Vatican cleared Galileo's name only as
late as in the previous decennium). Christianity stood in the way of
physics, biology, geology, astronomy, psychology, whatever science you
want. The islamic religion, just like any other religion, is a blessing for
those who need spiritual comfort and security (and who doesn't?), but it's
a pest as soon as it starts mingling with scientific affairs. Just like any
other religion.
